Yahav Viner debut film competition - new Israeli and international cinema
For the third year, the Cinema South Festival is celebrating the magic, the originality, the daring that lies in the creation of debuts, and this time with ten new films in a variety of genres from Israel and the world. The program includes works with a wide range of production budgets - and shows that it is possible to say a lot even with a little. Cinema that allows itself to be imperfect, to step between the mythical and the everyday, and is not embarrassed to ask... cinema that patiently and delicately holds a dialogue about migration in the world. The heroes are looking for a home - and invite us to a journey of adolescence, realization, and painful growth. Persistence pays off: a number of the filmmakers in the 2024 debut program are mature in age, and over the past year reached the position of making debut films. Their maturity is present in the films, enhanced against the background of the freedom and courage they took upon themselves in the creation.
