With close to 20 million TikTok views, #QuietQuitting is more than just a viral hashtag. A survey by Microsoft shows that 54% of GenZ workers have considered quitting their job.  Now, experts have met to figure out what it all means. A recent conference at Sapir brought together over 100 industry professionals and leading academics from southern Israel to discuss the post corona job market. The meeting was organized by the Israel Manufacturer’s Association together with Sapir, the Ministry of Economy and the City of Sderot.

At Sapir, our alumni are the supreme measure of success. This past week, 1,133 students graduated from our BA and MA programs, a majority of them women! This is good news for the College, for the Negev region, and for Israeli society as a whole. These outstanding academics, many of them from underserved communities in Israel’s southern periphery, will go on to leadership positions in all branches of industry, government and the nonprofit sector. 42 of them graduated with Outstanding Honors, thirty women and twelve men. 164 graduated with Honors - 123 of them women.

Israel’s only law faculty in the south, is attracting the country’s leading minds in jurisprudence. Sapir’s Law School is pleased to welcome the Hon. Neal Hendel, the recently retired deputy president of the Supreme Court.

Under the radar, Israeli film artists have created a thriving animation industry. Their work is in demand at companies like Disney and Pixar. Sapir’s School of Audio and Visual Arts has been a pioneer in the field, training a new generation of film artists and animators to take the lead in this emerging field. Now, Sapir graduate Yulia Trachtenberg has won the prestigious Asif prize for the best animated student film of 2022, as part of the Animix film festival. Her film, Pears, features original music by Nikita Semyonov and soundtrack by Lior Weizman, both Sapir graduates as well.

Sapir Academic College mourns the passing of Aharon Yadlin z"l, a man of the Negev, Minister of Education and Israel Prize awardee. Yadlin was a man of truth, an educator in his soul, he loved people and was a true friend of the College. May his memory be blessing.

Wars are still fought with tanks and artillery, but today’s conflicts increasingly take place on the virtual battlefield. The IDF’s elite C4I Unit is Israel’s front line of defense against hostile cyber-attacks on critical national infrastructures, from civilian water supplies to military command and control systems. Now, Sapir College has joined forces with the IDF to train a reserve of highly motivated young people from the Negev, willing and able to defend their country on tomorrow’s battlefield.
