The fifth season of "Shakshuka", the beloved drama for the whole family, is renewed with new characters who join the existing heroes of the series. The new stories in the series continue to provide an accurate expression of our complex, moving, and funny world. Our stars, Effi, Dotan, Yuli, Duki, Ofek and all the rest, are now entering the 9th grade in junior high, and just before the transition to high school, they are trying to get used to their new status as oldest in the school. During the season, they get into trouble with the guard over coffee, get into trouble with the police over chocolate, Ofek and his father try to adopt Shakshuka, Yuli is stressed because she "doesn't have a thing", Duki and Dan try to develop an app, Yuli's and Ofek's families move in together, Yuli finds herself in a horror movie, and more. David, Aviel, Mai and Esti, who are entering 4th grade, are joined in the new season by four new children: Tammuz, (Yardena Israeloff), who tries to do everything right, but things don't always work out the way she wants; Ben (Yaheli Gabai), who seems like the star of the group, but most of the time he doesn't feel that way; Rani (Eli Nachmani), who dreams of becoming a director and screenwriter, and is the best friend of the girls but also of Ben; and Naya (Odell Crudo), whose behavioral problems earn her a reputation as a bully, but hide great personal pain. The 4th grade children also get a new teacher, Galit (Agam Rodberg), a very dramatic woman with raw emotions, sometimes too much so, who always has the children's best interests in mind, but this is also sometimes too much, when she makes a mountain out of every molehill. The fifth season includes a special and ground-breaking concluding episode for Holocaust Memorial Day. In the episode Grandma Naomi (Rivka Michaeli) tells about the birthday she celebrated in the ghetto, and Ofek imagines himself and his friends in the ghetto in the midst of Grandma's painful and sometimes also funny story. In the fifth season, "Shakshuka" is also joined by new parents, among them Yiftah Klein and Yael Levanthal as Ben's self-centered parents, Avraham Shalom Levy and Maayan Turgeman as the parents of Tammuz, who run children’s shows, and Maya Maoz and Shlomi Arba as the parents of Rani and his older sister Liat.
