In the Director's Chair Sits a Woman
Israel 2020 | 57 min. | Hebrew | English & Hebrew subtitles
A feminist film essay devoted to Israel’s female fiction feature film directors. The story of the woman in the director’s chair unfolds through Ellida Geyra – Israel’s first female fiction filmmaker; 24 moving monologues by present day female directors, and one searing speech by Ronit Elkabetz. The spiraling, intuitive, and associative structure in the film recounts the experiences of women who have worked their way through the masculine world of cinema in Israel. Their stories suggest a magical mirror of a woman who wants her - story to be heard.
