A Border Community

Sapir College is located on the outskirts of Sderot, just two miles from the border with Gaza.

Our location is not an accident, it was a strategic decision made by the Israeli leadership years ago to create a regional anchor for the Western Negev and beyond.

With a workforce of 1,300, we are the largest employer in the region. Our Community Engagement Unit is the largest student volunteer program in southern Israel, and our academic tracks integrate collaborative programming together with neighboring communities and institutions.

We have purposely chosen not to build on-campus dorms to encourage our students, who hail from across Israel, to live in and become active  local residents.

We are partnering with the Minhelet Tekuma/Revitalization Authority, to encourage students to return to the area. Sapir's students who move back to Sderot and Otef Yisrael (Gaza Envelope), and commit to live and volunteer in local communities, will receive a tuition scholarship and living stipend.  Many graduates will choose to remain and build their lives in the Western Negev, thereby helping to accelerate economic and demographic growth.

More than just an academic hub, Sapir College is Israel's leading asset for the Minhelet Tekuma/Revitalization Authority.
