Dana Goldberg is a filmmaker and poet, graduate of the Beit Berl College Faculty of Arts.
A masterclass with Dana Goldberg, screenwriter and movie director, on the work methods behind two of her films – Death of the Poet (2017) and Debbie Was Here (in editing), as models of independent filmmaking. With segments from her films, we'll discuss restrictions, flexibility, the holy trinity: concept-structure-visual language and we'll map out potential leeway in impossible conditions.
Her first full length film, Alice, won the award for best screenplay, best actress (Ilanit Ben Yaakov) and special mention at the 2012 Jerusalem Film Festival. Her second film, Death of the Poet, a collaboration with poet Dr. Efrat Mishori, starring Evgenia Dodina and Samira Saraya, won the best actress award (Saraya) at the 2017 Jerusalem Film Festival and best screenplay at the Jewish Film Festival in England. Goldberg has written ten short films and ten experimental pocket films. The themes of her films focus on gender, identity, motherhood, violence and the cinematic language itself.
