The "Indie Ahead" program is the result of a collaboration between the Negev Film Fund and the Cinema South Festival. The program promotes and encourages budding filmmakers on their journey to develop and produce their first independent full length film. The program highlights fresh and bold filmmaking with a southern hue.
Four teams were selected for the program comprised of a producer, director and film school graduate and for one year they will obtain professional support in terms of screenplay and production from mentors Ophir Raul Graizer (director and writer – "The Cakemaker", "America") and Itay Akirav (independent producer – "Africa", "Savoy").
Following the development phase, one team will win a production grant in the amount of NIS 250,000.
The filmmakers' graduate films will be debuted at the Festival.

Michael and his father arrive at grandma's house to mourn a deceased aunt. When the father refuses to stay and sleep there as the family tradition expects, Michael, in spite, leaves him anyway. Before leaving alone, something doesn't sit right. He returns to the house, just to reveal a dark truth that has been hidden for too many years.

Avinoam and Barak, father and son from Kibbutz near Gaza strip, are each facing another round of combat in their own way. While Avinoam insists on continuing his routine and his work in the field, Barak finds it difficult to close his eyes and continue as usual. One night, Barak reaches a boiling point and Avinoam is forced to absorb the flames.

In the middle of the day, a young Ultra-Orthodox woman is called in to her son's school because something happened. She comes, determined to fight for his place and her own.
