In a modern economy, information technology is not enough.  Israel needs a reliable financial management infrastructure to participate in the global economic system.    From businesses to nonprofits and government offices, professional accountants guarantee financial transparency and compliance with internationally recognized standards. And Sapir College is where they learn how to do it.  Results of the last CPA exam are now in, and they show that students at Sapir outperform their peers at other Israeli institutions by a wide margin.  788 students from around Israel took the prestigious accreditation exam, administered by the Israel Auditors’ Council.  Overall, 73% passed the test on their first try.  By contrast, the Sapir’s Economics and Accounting Department students’ success rate was an outstanding 95%!

Dr. Gila Benisty, Sapir’s program director for economics and accounting, attributes this to a carefully designed mix of theoretical studies and hands-on training.  She is proud of her graduates, many of whom now hold senior managerial positions in Israeli companies and organizations.  Auditing, according to Benisty, is ultimately about trust.  When it comes to training the next generation of accountants, she says, Israel is literally counting on us.
