Innovation is not just about artificial intelligence or information technology. It’s part of the very algorithm of modern life. Government, too, must innovate to stay relevant and effective. Now, Sapir College is helping bring change to social services throughout Israel.

Our Crown Family Social Entrepreneurship Program at Sapir’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, recently hosted a conference together with the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, to launch a new community of innovation. The Crown Family Social Entrepreneurship Program's staff presented entrepreneurship and innovation trends in the public sector, highlighting the importance of community. The community approach gives voice to a diversity of stakeholders, from beneficiaries to service providers, practitioners and academics, all with the goal of reimagining how government can work better, especially in the field of social welfare. The innovation community will ensure that public services are conceived as dynamic and responsive, while providing solutions that address those who need them most.

Dr. Ditza Morli Sagiv, head of the ministry’s division for innovation and technology, points to three priority areas requiring attention: serving clients, organizational culture and process management.

Collaborating with Sapir, she explains, will afford us the out-of-the-box thinking we need to help embed innovation in the way government serves the public at large.

After the devastation of war, the people here are dealing with more than just physical wounds, all while trying to rebuild their lives, their communities, and gain a sense of stability. But with healthcare stretched thin and growing needs everywhere, it's clear that recovery will take more than temporary solutions. What's needed is something that lasts—an effort that can bring real, lasting change. That's why Sapir College and Hebrew University have come together.

Beyond the lecture halls and libraries, you'll find new businesses taking root, fresh ideas sparking to life, and opportunities blooming where none existed before. In Israel's southern periphery, Sapir College shows exactly how this works. The largest institution in the Gaza envelope region, Sapir demonstrates what happens when colleges invest deeply in their communities.
