This past Monday, April 1, 2024, Sapir College hosted the Chair of the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), Amy Bressman, together with the JDC-Tevet team, including: Rani Dudai, CEO JDC—Tevet; Adi Blunter, Director Life Long Learning; Ilan Levene Director of Strategic Partnerships.

Sapir’s President, Professor Nir Kedar briefed the team on the impact of October 7th on students and staff, and how the College with philanthropic partnership responded. In addition, Nir spoke about Sapir’s future plans including new degree programs that are critical to regional development; and plans to expand the campus that will double its size.

Kamila Milner Libskind, Director of Sapir’s Pre-Academic Programs and Professional Development Center gave an overview of the Sapir/JDC-Tevet Vocational Training Programs and how they have been developed based on the needs of local industry. Sapir College is proud to partner with the JDC-Tevet Program to provide first tier and career ladder programs, which offer local residents ongoing opportunities for training that result in quality jobs, contributing to the demographic and economic rejuvenation of the region.

Sapir, the academic nerve center of the entire Western Negev, will devote most of its NIS 200 million in government rehabilitation funding to scholarships, enabling more students from diverse backgrounds to study in the region. Its flagship initiative will be free tuition for all first-year students.
