What You Gonna Do When the World’s on Fire?

Italy, USA, France| 2018 | 123 Min | English | Documentary | Hebrew Subtitles

Summer 2017. A series of violent incidents between members of the police and Afro-American men claims many victims and causes uproar across the US. Against this background, an African American community in the South faces the toxic effects of the past and struggles to consolidate its cultural identity and achieve justice in the face of the despairing economic, social, and political reality. In his new film, esteemed Italian director, Roberto Minervini, who has lived and worked in the American South for years, follows characters who continue to unsettle the mind long after viewing. Minervini shoots his subjects in black and white. This intelligent documentary employs an intense poetic quality to shed light on a serious social issue.
