Sapir Continues to Lead Regional Development of the Western Negev
This past Tuesday, the College hosted the heads of the local authorities and officials of the Western Negev Cluster for a meeting about Sapir’s central role as growth engine for regional development. The College presented its new “Academia to Employment Unit” established in partnership with the Edmond de Rotschild Foundation, that is developing college-employer relationships and promoting regional development. Sapir is an academic, technological, cultural and economic regional resource; it provides an excellent, diverse and relevant education. -

Reimagining Government Services at Sapir
Innovation is not just about artificial intelligence or information technology. It’s part of the very algorithm of modern life. Government, too, must innovate to stay relevant and effective. Now, Sapir College is helping bring change to social services throughout Israel. Our Crown Family Social Entrepreneurship Program at Sapir’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, recently hosted a conference together with the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, to launch a new community of innovation. -

New Patent is a Research Milestone
It could be a breatkthrough in biological pest control. And it’s the first patent by a Sapir faculty member. Dr. Lilach Mondaca, head of the Science Department at Sapir Academic College, has pioneered a new, environmentally friendly technology to protect crops against destructive parasites. It’s all part of a major, international effort to find natural alternatives to dangerous chemical pesticides. Celebrated Actor to Head Film Program at Sapir
Israeli cinema just got a major boost. One of the country’s most versatile artists has just been appointed to head the film acting track at Sapir’s School of Audio and Visual Arts. Esti Zakheim’s thirty year acting career spans theatre, television and cinema. Among other things, she won the Ofir Award for Supporting Actress (“Lilsada”) and the Ophir Award (Israel’s Oscar) for Best Leading Actress (“Afula Express”). -

A New Home for Social Work at Sapir
The Peter Baris Building, the latest architectural addition to our campus, is the new home of Sapir’s School of Social Work. This burgeoning faculty, which includes BSW and MSW tracks, an international social work program, professional retraining, and the Negev Rights Based Community Practice Center, is a leader in Israel’s social work profession today. Sapir Faculty Leading Israel’s Digital Governance
Dr. Hama Abu-Kishk, a senior lecturer at Sapir’s Communications Department, has been elected as a member of the Israel Internet Association's Board of Directors for 2023. The Association is a nonprofit, and works to ensure that Israeli and global online services are safely, quickly, and freely available.
