A few days after the darkness of October 7th fell upon us, little points of light began to twinkle across the country, all produced by the School of Audio and Visual Arts.
A spot here, a flashlight there, a flashing computer screen with a synopsis on it, a bright production phone.
They lit up one after the other in the hotels of the evacuees, in shelters, on alternative routes and in makeshift classrooms.
Little by little, out of the great darkness, a wave of creation rose and swelled, distilling from the great pain moving works of art, full of compassion, anger, grief and much healing.
The small points of light slowly turned into a huge flame, the same flame that has always burned and will always burn, no matter what, in our school and in our festival.
You are invited to warm yourself in its light.
This is an excellent opportunity to give heartfelt thanks to all those who made sure, day and night, that the fire of the festival and the flame of creation would never go out - Tamir Hod and Lihi Binyamin and the festival team, the heads of the tracks, the devoted school staff, the head of the school and chairman of the festival Prof. Sami Shalom Chetrit, who triumphed over everything against all odds, and of course the hundreds of our students, who will soon fill the halls of the Sderot Cinematheque - our second home, and will finally have the excitement of experiencing the peak moments that we all aim for - the premieres of their new works.
Wishing us a successful festival!
